Honkai: Star Rail is a turn-based game with some complicated moves, so it can help to know these tips if you’re just starting out.

Some people find it hard to get started with games, and Honkai: Star Rail is no different. Even though the game is played one turn at a time, there are many ways to improve your performance in battles. For example, it can be very helpful to know how to farm well or even how to get an advantage before a fight.

These tips and tricks are for people who are new to Honkai: Star Rail and want to get ahead of their fellow Trailblazers.

Understand Character Path

In Honkai: Star Rail, there are seven different Paths. In short, each Path does the following:

  1. The Destruction : DPS that has decent survivability
  2. The Hunt : Squishy single-target nuker
  3. The Erudition : Multi-target DPS
  4. The Harmony : Buffer
  5. The Nihility : Debuffer
  6. The Preservation : Defense character that protects their teammates
  7. The Abundance : Healer

Path not only determines a character’s role in battle, but it also makes farming a bit easier because each Path shares a material. This is true for both the Light Cone weapon and the Trace of a character (skill). For example, Arlan and MC, who are both from the Destruction faction, would talk about the same things. The same item will be used by all weapons in this class.

Attack The Enemy Before Fighting

There are many benefits to making sure you know how to attack an enemy before a fight. First, players can attack the enemy’s weakness, which is listed next to their name, to make them weaker as soon as the battle starts.

Second, players can speed up the fight by using Techniques. For instance, Natasha’s Technique can make the enemy weaker, which is good for the team. Characters like Asta and Arlan, on the other hand, can do a lot of damage to their enemies. Asta can even defeat her enemies before they even fight by using her Technique.

Learn Enemy’s Weakness Break

Players can see where the enemy is weak not only before the battle, but also during it. If you break the enemy’s toughness, they won’t be able to act right away. This isn’t too important in a normal fight, but it can help a lot when fighting a strong boss.

Also, players would want to pay attention to how well a character breaks weaknesses. For example, the MC’s Skill can lower the toughness of the primary target’s enemies by a larger amount than that of adjacent enemies. Characters like Jing Yuan and Asta who can hit more than once are also good because each hit makes the enemy weaker. But their mechanics are a bit more complicated, so it’s important to know how to get the most out of them.

Five Skill Types

In Honkai: Star Rail, there are five different kinds of Skills. The Traces system can be used to level up all of these Skills except for the Technique.

  • Basic ATK: You can use it whenever you want, and it will give you back one skill point.
  • Skill: Does more damage and does it better, but it costs one skill point.
  • Ultimate: You have to have enough energy to cast it, and you can use it when it’s not your turn.
  • Talent: An ability that is always on and will be used automatically in battle.
  • You can only use this technique outside of a fight.

In Genshin Impact, passives became available when a character reached Ascension. In Honkai: Star Rail, however, players had to use the Traces system to make them available. On the other hand, the Talent level can be raised to make it work better.

Technique and Skill point

Skill and Technique each have their own set of points that can be used to cast them. Players can get back their skill points by using Basic Attack, but to get back their technique points, they have to destroy a “purple object” in the open world. Keep in mind that the purple item looks different in each area, but if it glows purple, it’s probably a Technique point-recovering item.

One Skill point will be restored by a Basic Attack, and two Technique points will be restored by destroying the purple object. At first, players will have fewer Technique points, but once they reach the required level, this will go up to five.

Utilize Techniques

Players can only use techniques outside of a fight, so they must do so before starting a fight. When players use this skill, they can get different results. Most characters just hurt the enemy, but others do something more interesting. Here are some examples:

  • Trailblazer: Everyone on your team gets 15% of their HP back.
  • Dan Heng: His own ATK goes up.
  • Bailu: Use the Invigoration effect, which heals the character when they’ve been hurt.
  • Seele: Make yourself invisible and get a better attack right away at the start of the battle.

Destroy And Investigate Everything

There are different kinds of things you can destroy in the open world:

  • Common goal: Gives credit and/or puts things together
  • Purple object : Restores two Technique points
  • The green object heals everyone on the team.

But in the Simulated Universe, a common object would instead give money that can be spent in the Simulated Universe. This challenge also requires players to make better use of the things they already have. For example, since there aren’t many purple objects in the domain, players should save their Techniques for a tough battle. If there’s a purple object before an elite stage, players can do something like:

  • Fight the simple foe
  • Use two strategies to get ready for the next fight.
  • Kill the purple thing to get your points back.

So, even after beating the elite boss, players will still have five Technique points. This is a good way to make sure that players don’t run out of points right before a tough fight.

Also, new players would want to see as much of the world as they could. When you look into an object, you might find out about something unique, like a quest or something that gives you a reward. Stellar Jades can even be found in some objects that have been Investigated.

Honkai: Star Rail is currently being made for Android, iOS, and PC. Eggy Car game is expected to come out in the spring of 2023, probably on April 26.
